Excellent work on the shark(s)... very convincing, and I like the filtered light effects on its skin. I have heard sharks' eyes referred to as "dead," so this may be accurate.

Wow....

excellent model. Its awesome!

The only thing I can see is the bubbles that are exiting the sharks mouth, because... sharks don't exhale really at all, and certainly not from the mouth. The other thing is the top dorsal fin, which just seems wrong, but I have a feeling your model has that correct.

But I don't care. This is art, not an anatomy class on sharks, and you have done an excellent job with the detail in the cuts and lighting, which is just incredible!

+my max!

Holy crap, that is AMAZING!!!! Fantastic model! Excellent detail, I am in awe!!!! I don't mean to nit pick, but I think the surface of the water looks more like clouds than water.
Besides that, this piece is abolsutely brilliant! Very well done! :)

amazing bit of work there on the shark.. though the composition is a bit weak imo

BigCircus

 11/07/03 @112

To say that this is exceptional is kind of pointless. The execution of the rendering and the texturing are all top notch as well as the post production in photoshop.

Avatar Fvercuiel

 11/07/03 @787

I agree with BigCircus unfortunately
Still, aesthetic.. but score isnt given for aesthetic qualities as much as real skill.
Not that this isnt skill. Just, dont worry what I have to say because 3d models arent my cup of tea ;)

Bravissimo Ivan, davvero bella la texture.
Hai utilizzato il modello DAZ3d Shark? o l'hai modellato ex-novo?
In ogni caso complimenti!!!:)

WOW! Very nice detail!!! I like how you thought about keeping the water a dark stormy color, rather than Caribean like waters.

Avatar adamfrancuzik

 12/03/03 @831

Wait.... this is Lightwave?! I thought you painted! Well.... it's still sweet! I also do 3D, and it's some fine 3D work! Since you paint you can also do some very nice textures! This is somthing that could get you a job working for some movie or game company. (unless you're already working for them?)

Grazie ,no ,non ho usato modelli preconfezionati ,anche perchè sinceramente ,quelli che si trovano in giro non sono un granchè :),me lo sono modellato.

No,I'm not working for movies or games ,but I'm an illustrator ,so , is funny to explore 3D world too :)

Avatar ThirdDimension

 06/28/04 @455

hmm
i would have added lightrays casted from the watersurface though ..
like volume light , that water doesnt look like water

also .. Airbubles from its mouth ?
O_o
also its too clean

water would have a lot of dirty particles flowing around ..
being sturred up by the shark

some tips :p

what i do like
texturing is good ..
like the scars
atonomy looks great

Avatar Kaduflyer

 02/22/05 @946

I know i'm like 2 years to late...lol....but here's my two cents!

Sharks take much of their prey from the waters surface..seals...sea birds...surfers (haha)....when they strike they take in huge quantities of air as well as their hapless victim...most of the air is expelled thruogh the gills...but some will certainly escape from the mouth as well!

I guess maybe its the photoshop over painting...but I've never seen a 3d model this good...or maybe it's because you're a superb artist and not a computer jock?

for what it's worth ...top marks

OMG this is GREAT !!! How long did it take you to finish this ???
This reminds me of the 3D artwork "Great White" made with 3dsmax and Combustion (I don't remember the artist's name), but this one of yours has a style. If you have some more little fish in the background then this can be mistaken as a photo .
